Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I am having an emergency, and feel suicidal; can you find me a therapist?
Answer: If you or someone you know is in a serious crisis situation, please call 911 immediately. Connect For Help does not provide this type of service.

Are you in crisis? Please call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or visit HopeLine

  2. What can Connect For Help do for me?
Answer: Connect For Help, Inc will contact therapists within a 25 mile radius of your zip code. A therapist will then telephone you to set up an appointment.

  3. I have medicare or medicaid can you help me?
Answer: No, we are unable to help anyone who participates in a Federal health care program. A Federal health care program would include but is not limited to, medicare, medicaid, or any insurance provided by the state such as Medi-CAL.

  4. How long does it take for Connect For Help to find a professional for me?
Answer: It may be immediate or it may take several days. We make every effort to match you up as quickly as possible.

  5. I am having trouble finding a therapist who accepts my insurance. What should I do?
Answer: You may consider looking for someone outside your insurance network and submitting the bill directly to your insurance company if your insurance company allows that. Check with your insurance company to see what they suggest.

  6. I have an HMO insurance plan can you help me find a therapist?
Answer: If you have an HMO that is Point of Service (POS) we can help you. POS is a type of HMO that allows for out-of-network visits. If you call your HMO and ask if you have POS, and they say yes, then Connect For Help may assist you in locating a therapist. Otherwise, we won't be able to help you since HMO's are closed networks and we are unable to work with HMO's. If you have an HMO that is not POS, you must go through your Primary Care Physician for a referral or call the 800 number located on the back of your insurance card.

  7. I don't have any money. Can you find a therapist who doesn't charge me anything?
Answer: No, unfortunately we cannot. An option you might consider is going to your local mental health clinic where a consumer is charged for therapy based on their income. The number for the mental health clinic in your area is in the front of your local telephone book listed under Department of Health and Human Services. You can also get the number by calling your local information 411. Another option is going to a local church in your area and speaking to a church advisor. Examples of church advisors include but are not limited to pastor, reverend, rabbi or priest.

  8. Where can I find more information about how to pay for mental health care visits?
Answer: Call or visit any of the organizations below:
